Hacks on the Beach is a small hack & frickel festival right on the Flensburg Fjord. For the fourth time, you can spend a whole weekend working on your own and other projects with a view of the sea. There are also super cool people, delicious food and lots of fun. To the ticket shop

You need a free ticket to participate. We would be delighted if you could support the event with a voluntary donation so that we can pay for rent and catering. You can find the donation recommendation in the ticket shop.

WHO:
The whole thing is organised by Germany's northernmost hackspace, the Chaos Computer Club Flensburg e.V.! We have been bringing and creating chaos in Flensburg since 2015 and are happy to show visitors our most beautiful beaches.

Who is the event for?

The event is aimed at anyone who is interested in or enthusiastic about tinkering, programming, hacking, tinkering, soldering, 3D printing, chaos and net politics. You don't have to be an expert or have any prior knowledge to take part in this event. The best thing to do is just drop by.

You should not come if you believe in conspiracy myths or do not adhere to the Code of Conduct.

Communication during the event

Food

Dinner will be provided on Friday and Saturday. The food will be vegetarian and vegan. There will also be gluten-free food. What exactly will be available and when is still being planned.

During the event there will also be a station where you can make your own sandwich toast.

If you want to eat at other times, you will have to cater for yourself.

Do you need more volunteers?

If you would like to help us with the workshops or with the set-up/organisation, simply send us an email to hotb@chaostreff-flensburg.de. The event depends on the support of volunteers.

Can I come along to simply meet new people or work on my own project?

By all means! That's exactly what our events are all about: tinkering, crafting, working on your own projects that you don't have time for at home and gathering new inspiration in the process. Another point is to make new contacts and get to know people. If you would like to bring something bigger than just your laptop and Arduino (etc.), please send us a short email in advance: hotb@chaostreff-flensburg.de.

How much does a ticket cost?

Tickets are free, but you can make a voluntary contribution to the event (a donation). The money will be administered by the Chaos Computer Club Flensburg e.V. (non-profit organisation).

Travelling

Bus

Bus route 3 goes to Solitüde. From the bus stop "Flensburg Solitüde" it is approx. 6 minutes on foot to the beach pavilion. It is also possible to take bus number 7 to the bus stop "Flensburg Twedter Feld". From there it is approx. 20 minutes on foot to the beach pavilion. There is a night bus service from Twedter Plack. The last bus N2 leaves at 03:16 from Twedter Plack to e.g. Flensburg ZOB. You can find the bus connections in Flensburg in the DB-Navigator or at nah.sh. A live location of the buses can be found at busradar-flensburg. FlixBus travels from most major cities in Germany (Kiel, Hamburg, Bremen, Hanover, Berlin,...) and Denmark (Aarhus, Copenhagen, Kolding,...). All connections end at the railway station in Flensburg. With Sydtrafik there is also a Danish provider that stops at the ZOB. It is about 30 minutes by bike from the railway station to Hacks on the Beach. By bus, it is approx. 5 minutes from the ZOB to the railway station.

Train

There are various train connections ~~ from Kiel (approx. 1 hour) and ~~ from Hamburg (approx. 2 hours) by regional train. There is often even mobile internet and power sockets on the trains. You should not rely on mobile internet and enjoy the digital detox. Occasionally, Danish ICs also run from Hamburg to Flensburg. There is a daily EC connection from Prague to Flensburg. For groups without a €49 ticket, the Schleswig-Holstein ticket from Hamburg is worthwhile. You can buy Sparpreis tickets via detours, which are also worthwhile due to the high regional train prices. You can travel from Denmark with the Danish State Railway.

Car

Hacks on the Beach is easy to reach via the A7 motorway and then the B200. From Hamburg you need about 1 hour and 55 minutes. From Sonderburg it is approx. 40 minutes and from Kiel approx. 1 hour. There are numerous parking spaces within walking distance (approx. 2 minutes / 200 metres), but no parking spaces directly at the venue. Caravan parking is generally not a problem. Toilets and showers are not available. There are no showers at the venue. Miscellaneous

In Flensburg, you can travel relatively cheaply by taxi. For ambitious hikers, the European long-distance hiking trail 1 also leads through Flensburg.

Accommodation

All participants must organise their own accommodation. The beach pavilion is closed at night. There is no overnight accommodation in the beach pavilion.

Hotels & Hostels

It is also possible to rent holiday flats via the Genossenschaftlichen Gäste Wohnung Ring. If you are not a member of one of these co-operatives, please send us an e-mail.

Camping

There is a campsite in Jarplund, but unfortunately it is quite far away and not really easy to reach by public transport.

Miscellaneous

It is possible to spend the night in a "gym" free of charge. However, this room only has toilets and no shower. If you are interested, please send us an e-mail.

Beverages

We will bring mate, Fritz-Kola and some Fritz lemonades and make them available for a donation. There will be tap water and we will also bring a kettle, but it is better if you bring your own tea. You can also bring your own drinks.

Bring with you

You are welcome to bring your own projects. Since we only have limited space, we ask you not to occupy any seats if you are not there and, if possible, to stow everything on the shelves on site. If you want to bring something bigger than a 3D printer, please send us an email beforehand. We cannot accommodate anything that is very loud or dusty.

Physical accessibility

The event takes place on the 1st floor and there is no lift. There is no accessible toilet.

There is no separate quiet room. The entire event takes place in a long, curved room.
